In November 2018, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended a Tokyo ceremony marking the launch of the new “Michibiki” Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) for enhanced satellite positioning services. The constellation of satellites in the Michibiki system will supplement existing GPS systems, making possible more precise and stable satellite positioning.
