Tokyo 2020 JAPAN HOUSE in Full Swing!
The Tokyo 2020 JAPAN HOUSE has opened in Rio de Janeiro during the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games to showcase Tokyo and Japan, the host of the next Olympic and Paralympic Games. In the exhibition space open to the general public, the Government of Japan has joined the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Tokyo, the next host city, to set up exhibits. Over 40 thousand visitors including Cariocas, who had looked forward to the Japanese cultural experience, have flocked to the JAPAN HOUSE since it opened on August 5.
The Japanese Government area hosts a special booth where visitors can get their hands on its English-language public relations magazines, which not only introduce traditional Japanese culture, but tell stories of people who serve as bridges between Japan and other nations, spotlight innovative science and technologies that have aided development worldwide, and feature messages from Japan’s Prime Minister Abe. Visitors are also introduced to traditional Japanese games, while a corner where visitors can play ring toss and magnetic fishing is also very popular.
Every day also brings new features that enliven the venue such as the Japanese PR events aimed at the global media and the Japanese Cuisine Symposium “The power of Japanese cuisine to support top athletes.” The talk show featured Zico, a former top athlete, and Daichi Suzuki, former gold medalist at the Barcelona Games and currently Commissioner of the Japan Sports Agency.
The Tokyo 2020 JAPAN HOUSE will be open through the Paralympic Games from September 9 to 18.
